The water filter cleans the supply feeding the ice maker and dispenser. When it clogs, flow drops and ice production falls. So replace the filter on schedule, usually every six months. In addition, flush the new filter before you judge the flow.
The water inlet valve opens to feed water to the ice maker and the dispenser. When it clogs or fails, you get little or no water and often no ice. Therefore, check the valve screen for scale and test the coil for continuity. Replace the valve if it is blocked or electrically dead.
The actuator is the paddle you press to dispense water. When it cracks or its linkage slips, the switch behind it never trips. So check that the paddle presses the switch fully. Replace the actuator if it is broken or loose.
The micro switch sends the dispense signal when you press the paddle. When it fails, the dispenser stays silent even though the paddle moves. Therefore, test the switch for continuity as it clicks. Replace it if it does not make contact.
The dispenser control board runs the water and ice controls in the door. When it fails, the dispenser may do nothing even though the switches work. So confirm the board receives power and sends it to the motor and valve. Replace the board if it does not react.
